2010 in review...

The year was definitely a tidal wave of sorts on the musical wavelength - which comes as no surprise to anyone, I'm sure, considering the general tidal wave effect of life around the globe. Outlaw Dervish took the year to re-tool and trim up the musical approach and Travis W traveled to Egypt for the first of what looks to be many years of journeying to an ancient and magical land of wonder and mystery with good friends. This year witnessed the official release of the "New Edge" musical collaboration between Outlaw Dervish (Travis W) and Ben Leinbach with their new studio album, "Yoro Yoro". Sound Healing, Spoken Word, Radio Appearances, a ceremonial/retreat appearance in the woods with Michael Meade and collaborations with the A Mused Collective as well as a new Trio projet between Outlaw Dervish and Mytholythic rounded out a season of change and transformation in a sometimes calm, and others , wild whirlwind of outrageous activity.

The Outlaw Dervish project as it was actualized in 2008/2009 came to an end in 2010. The former members of the live band line-up moved on to other projects, including Dan Yockey's formation of his very creative and soulful Candelaria Cumbia Dub outfit. Outlaw D himself is carrying the music forward and appeared in a handful of radio performances on KOWS Radio (107.3 FM North Bay California and Live on-line streaming) and KGGV Radio (Guerneville, CA).

Other live performances included two dates at Cafe Azul in Santa Rosa Ca., and a few with A Mused Collective in Davis, Ca.- one at UC Davis and another at the Whole Earth Expo, also in Davis, as well as a few dates at West County Herb Company Events in Occidental California.

Travis W put together a one-off trio in January of 2010 with Dana Dharma Devi and Daniel Fries, performing his own original mystical spoken word poetry and that of seasoned masters such as Rumi, Hafiz, Stafford and others, at the Tranquility Salon in San Leandro.

In February he went to Egypt with a group of 22 spiritual-soul-adventurers and provided sound healing - didjeridu, native american flute, spoken word and hand drums at sacred sites through-out the land and did private one on one dram work sessions with folks on the Nile, returning in March to pick up promotion for the new Sound Healing/Ambient/Meditation album "Yoro Yoro".

The album has started to do quite well through iTunes and CDBaby this past year and we look forward to more of that in 2011. The music featured fuses the various elements of musical expression that support deep contemplation and healing and is appropriate for Yoga, Deep-listening and a whole host of other interests and experiences.

Looking forward to an expanded and enlivened re-turn in 2011 with up-coming shows in January with Mytholythic and Andy Graham as well Eliyahu Sills and Jason Parmar.
Stay tuned for more details and thanks for reading and following!

All Best, Outlaw Dervish
